NAKED BASICS | GRWM

Saturday, September 26, 2015

I'm all about the Urban Decay Naked Basics palette at the moment, I am kicking myself for not purchasing this sooner! I never knew how essential an all matte palette would be, but my gosh I can't get enough!

I also think that this makeup look is so cute for fall time with a flush of berry on the cheeks and lips. I added a blanket scarf from Forever 21, curled my hair a bit, and I was ready for my day!

If you'd like to see my current go to makeup look, plus hear me totally mess up the name of an eye shadow (still very embarrassed about this...) then be sure to watch my most recent tutorial by clicking HERE.

Thank you SO much for watching, and don't forget to subscribe to my channel!

Brands I Love

Wednesday, August 27, 2014

With so many brands on the market it's easy to get lost someplace in the heavens of makeup. I've made a list of some of the high end brands that I think are definitely worth your money!

Urban Decay - I really love their Revolution Lipsticks (particularly the shade Streak) as their formula is so creamy and pigmented.  I own all three Naked palettes and I am head over heels for them. Again, their pigmentation is out of this world and each shadow is so easy to blend. Sin, Naked, Sidecar, Suspect, Snakebite, Nooner, Liar, and Mugshot are a few of my favourite UD eyeshadows!

Tarte - I'm sure you already know that I'm going to mention their Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blushes! I am so in love with these blushes and they are some of the greatest blushes I've ever tried. I love Exposed, Dollface, Captivating, and my absolute favourite is True Love. Tarte also has a lovely 12 Hour Full Coverage Foundation which has been raved about loads in the beauty world. All their products are natural as well as cruelty free and made with Amazonian Clay which really prolongs the wear time of your makeup.

NARS - the simple matte black rubber packaging makes me swoooon! NARS has some amazingly pigmented blushes and everyone should own a couple in their collection. A few of my favourites are Deep Throat, Desire, Sin, and of course the famous blush in the shade Orgasm. NARS is also well known for their Sheer Glow Foundation. I absolutely love the way this foundation looks on my skin. It has good coverage while still giving you a natural finish, a favourite of many!

bareMinerals - a brand I'm still new too as I only just started dipping my toes into their products November 2013. Their Matte Foundation quickly became a favourite of mine and I recommend it to all. It provides a good coverage and gives you a very healthy appearance - you won't look "flat" with this matte finish! I also love their Skinny Dip bronzer for any fair skin toned beauty lovers. Applied at the temples and cheek bones you'll look glowy and bronzed!

MAC Cosmetics - I can spend hours in Sephora not knowing what to purchase because there are just so many options while at MAC I can be in and out within 20 minutes! I love that about MAC, they have everything you need. My current favourite lipstick would Syrup but you can view all my MAC lipsticks here. I also love their blushes (can you tell I'm a huge blush lover?) as they are all so soft and pigmented. Mocha, Lovecloud, and New Romance are a few of my favourites. MAC always has fun limited edition collections coming out so be sure to keep a eye out for a collection you may like!

What are a few of your favourite brands that you love?

Daytime Smokey Eye - Urban Decay Naked Palette

Saturday, April 12, 2014

Since buying my mom her Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette I put my Naked 3 aside for the day and went with the original palette. I always lean towards such neutral and simple eye looks that for today as I was getting ready I decided to smoke it up a little - even though I was just going for a 6 hour day at school.

I've been using this palette for almost three years now and I can't get over how much I love it! As you can tell from the photo, I hardly ever use the darker shadows, which can be a bit of a waste honestly!

I first primed my eye with MAC Painterly Paint Pot and then moved on to using the lightest shade Virgin on my inner corners and brow bone with a small pencil brush. Next I used my finger to apply the beautiful shade Sin all over my lid - from end to end! Next I blended the shade Naked with my MAC 217 into my crease as a transitional shade so everything flows well. Next I took the shade Smog in my outer corner and into the outer portion of my crease as well. I can't believe I hardly use this shadow - it's so beautiful! Lastly I blended in a dark brown shade with gold shimmer called Darkhorse to my outer V (on top of Smog) for that extra deepness.

I have definitely found my day time smokey eye and I can't wait to wear it more. It really is such a beautiful combination of colours and I'm glad to be getting some use out of the darker shades. I'll be taking baby steps while working my way up to the shades Creep and Gunmetal ;).

What's your favourite way to wear this palette?

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

Tuesday, April 8, 2014

If you follow my Instagram account (which you should be ;) hehe!) then you will already know that I surprised my mom with the Urban Decay Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette. She's been wanting it since November when we flew to NYC and I had the Sephora 15% VIB coupon code so I wanted to surprise her with something special. I knew I wouldn't be using the discount for myself as I'm trying really hard not to buy myself any makeup as I will actually be going to work at a summer camp from May-August which sadly means less blog posts & not wearing any makeup. I'll be in withdrawl.

I wanted to do a quick small feature post on this lovely palette because I think I'm waaay more excited about it then my mom is and I'm hoping if I ask super nicely that I'll even be allowed to do some looks for you and feature it in some of my makeup medley posts. This palette is quite cool toned from what I'm used too but the shades Snakebite, Suspect and YDK are really catching my eye.

I would really love to know what your favourite ways to use this palette would be - whether it's for a neutral day time look or more of a smokey eye. To tell you the truth, right now I'm feeling like a fish out of water because I'm so used to warm tones I don't know how I should wear this one! So with my mothers permission, you just might be seeing this palette a few more times! ;)

Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick - Streak

Monday, January 27, 2014

You've probably heard in my past several posts talk about how much I have fallen in love with the Urban Decay Revolution Lipsticks - and I have to 100% blame Brittany for that as she told me via twitter how amazing they are and how I need one! Well, I am definitely not disappointed at all. Thank you Brittany!

I purchased the shade Streak which is a lovely coral pink that is very pigmented and glides on so smoothy. I find that it is so wearable and really brightens up your whole appearance! The finish has a beautiful shine that is very obvious in the photo below. If you're curious about what makes these lipsticks so smooth and creamy - its the jojoba oil, avocado oil, cocoa butter and Shea butter! These Revolution lipsticks are packed with wonderful moisturizing properties. I find I get a solid 3 hour wear time with this lipstick before I have to reapply - which I'm totally okay with doing if it means pulling out the beautiful packaging in pubic!

The packaging is a very sturdy metal bullet with a beautiful gunmetal tint to it. When I first took the lipstick out of the packaging I must have been incredibly excited because I dropped it and I was so nervous to see a broken lipstick, but this wonderful packaging saved me!

There are so many colours from very wearable nudes, to a stunning mauves & plums shade, all the way up to fiery reds and bright pinks. You will definitely be able to find a shade perfect for you.

Do let me know what UD lipsticks you own as I'm itching to add another to my collection!

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette - Tutorial

Tuesday, December 17, 2013

I just posted on my youtube channel for a tutorial for the brand new Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette, I am so in love with this palette and I just can't stop wearing it! In the video I show how I like to wear these shadows and which ones are my current favourites!

I have had troubles with my Nikon D5100 since I bought it January of 2013 trying to find the perfect setting to film with, and you will probably notice in this video... I have still yet to find that perfect setting! I find that when I have uploaded into iMovie everything looks great, bright, and just how I want it. THEN once I have uploaded from iMovie directly into YouTube everything changes! It goes much darker and slightly grey...if anyone has any idea what I should do to change that, please let me know! I don't have many people watching my videos (which is fine because I just have fun making them!) so I don't want to invest tons of money into lighting just yet. Therefore, please do let me know if you have any ideas!

Hope you enjoy the tutorial!

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

Monday, December 16, 2013

I know everyone and their mothers twice removed cousin has raved about this beautiful palette, but it's just too stunning to not write a post about it! Here are my thoughts on the newest Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette:

Personally I think this is the most romantic palette UD has released, I don't own the second palette but I do own the original which I absolutely love. I do believe that the third is incredibly different then the first and second, which is why I felt perfectly fine spending the $62.00 on it. This palette is all rose toned which will look stunning on hazel & green eyes, I have brown eyes and find that the pink tones are very flattering none the less.

The packaging is very similar to the second Naked as it is in a tin and has a lock shut - perfect for traveling. It has a large mirror and comes with a double ended eyeshadow brush, one end is a packing on eyeshadow brush, and the other is a blending brush perfect for in the outer corner or in the crease. Naked 3 comes with 12 eye shadows which comes to around $6.00 an eyeshadow for a total of $62.00 - pretty reasonable price if you ask me!

Now on to the colours!

As you can see the first six eye shadows are quite light and day time wearable where as the final six are more dark and smokey. There are three matte shades and 8 shimmer and 1 more "glittery" shade which I don't think I will get much use of.

Strange - Pale matte smooth cream - perfect for brow bone or inner corner

Dust - Baby pink shimmer with glitter - perfect to be applied in the center of the lid just be careful of fall out as it is very glittery

Burnout - Smooth & silky peachy pink - I love wearing this all over my lid

Limit - Pale matte dust rose - works great in the crease as a transition shade

Buzz - Highly pigmented metallic rose with slight glitter -very wearable!

Trick - Beautiful rose gold - lovely in the inner corner or under lower lashes

Nooner - Pinky Mauve matte - again works so well in the crease or outer corner to deepen up a day time look

Liar - Cool toned shimmery purple with a pink undertone - incredibly pigmented and so beautiful

Factory - Pinky brown with fine shimmer - love applying this in the outer corner

Mugshot - Metallic taupe with stunning shimmer - no complaints!

Darkside - Deepened taupe with very fine shimmer - very pigmented

Blackheart - Black with red & purple microshimmer - the perfect shade for smoking up your eye makeup

Urban Decay Naked Palettes always have such huge hypes to them, but honestly they are so worth it! Blogs and YT channels will probably be over flowing with reviews of this romantic palette until about mid January I'd imagine, but it is just so stunning!

I was able to order mine before it was sold out and also before it had hit the Sephora shelves, and I recommend picking one up for yourself! I think that this palette would also be stunning for a bride or bridesmaid.

What are your favourite ways to wear this palette? Leave a comment below and let me know (rhyming yahoo!)! I'm always interested to know new ways of wearing these beautiful rose toned shadows.

Have you picked yours up yet?
